The Story of Zhengyalov Hatz
Deep in the highlands of Artsakh and Syunik, the bread known as Zhengyalov Hatz (Ժենգյալով հաց) was born out of simplicity and abundance: dough rolled thin, filled with 12, 20 or more types of finely-chopped herbs and greens, sealed, and cooked on a hot griddle (traditionally a saj or tonir).
It represents more than sustenance, it is a heritage dish that speaks of resourcefulness, celebration, and gather-around warmth. At our two Los Angeles locations (Glendale + North Hollywood), we’ve brought that tradition west, staying true to its roots, embracing its bold green flavor profile, and creating shareable moments for modern life.
In every flatbread, you’ll find:
- A base of soft golden dough, crafted fresh.
- A vibrant filling of herbs and greens, including parsley, cilantro, dill, beet greens, sorrel, scallion, mint and more, layered for complexity, brightness and texture.
- A cooking method that retains crispness on the outside and a subtle bite of fresh herbs inside, perfect for hand-held enjoyment or sharing.
- A menu designed for pickup or delivery, for families, for friends, for gatherings big or small.
Keeping Tradition Alive
Every Zhengyalov Hatz carries the spirit of Artsakh — the aroma of wild herbs, the warmth of handmade bread, and the timeless comfort of tradition passed from one generation to the next.
